Limited Scope Surveys and Sampling

Many structures built prior to the 1990’s were done so with asbestos-containing materials. When renovating or just doing regular maintenance on an older building, there is a very high probability of encountering ACM’s.

In order to avoid disturbing any asbestos in your home, you MUST know where they are. This can be tricky as asbestos can be in many different places, from:

  • Vinyl Flooring
  • Drywall Compounds/Plasters
  • Textured Walls and Ceilings
  • Stucco
  • Concrete Siding
  • Window Putty
  • Ceiling Tiles
  • “Transite” Products
  • Insulation
  • Electrical Components
  • Ducting Tape

Since so many materials are possibly an ACM, not having a test can have costly health effects.

That’s where we come in. We will provide on-site inspections and sampling for whatever size project you have planned to ensure you are fully aware of all ACM’s prior to start-up.

Full Scope Survey

Not only is a full scope asbestos survey crucial for worker health prior to a large construction project, it is often required. This is because many municipalities will not issue permits until a survey is complete, in order to protect workers, building occupants, and bystanders.

We provide a thorough asbestos survey of buildings slated for demolition, major renovations, or for managerial purposes in order to locate all Asbestos-Containing Materials (ACM's). As part of our survey, we complete a comprehensive inspection of all aspects of a building, including the interior and exterior building materials.

Once an inspection and sampling is complete, a full report will be provided. This will allow for the proper removal or maintenance of all ACM’s prior to any project. Your survey can include:

  • The location and quantity of ACM’s, if any are found.
  • The type of asbestos and classification of the ACM.
  • The condition of the ACM (if required).

Please note that supplemental ACM may be found during the actual demolition or altering of a building.

Analytical Testing /Drop-off Service

If you’re a company that has trained professionals capable of collecting their own samples we can help with that too. Samples can be dropped off for testing in our 24 hour drop box at any time. Or if you are from out of town, samples can be mailed to or lab directly.

We know that construction projects don’t always go as planned and ACM’s are routinely hidden under other building materials. In these cases timely results can be essential. We offer a wide selection of turnaround times from 3 hours to 5 business days to both suit the need of your project and its budget. We also offer afterhours, weekend, and evening testing by appointment.

When submitting your own samples please adhere to the Alberta Asbestos Abatement Manual guidelines (and our FAQ page) on sample size and quantity as not all materials are sampled the same. Or give us a call, we’d love to hear from you and help you out.
