FAQs

  • What are the costs for asbestos testing?

At CET we strive to provide our services as cost-effective as possible.  That being said costs can vary depending on a couple of factors; sample volume, on-site collection, and turnaround time required.  We encourage you to contact CET today with your specific needs and we’ll do our best to keep the costs to a minimum.

  • How Fast Can I Expect Results?

CET has multiple turnaround options.  From immediate to 3-5 business days.  Contact us to determine which best suits you.

  • When can I book an appointment & how long does sampling take?

We try to be as flexible as possible with our appointments.  Weekends, evenings, whatever is most convenient for you.  Appointment lengths vary with sample quantities and inspection size/scope.

  • Can I drop off samples for testing at CET?

Yes.  CET has a 24-hour drop box available.  Please make sure to have all samples individually bagged (6 mil bags), marked, and sealed.  And please have a completed chain of command form included with your samples.

  • Can I collect my own samples?

At CET we encourage you to have a trained professional collect sample, but if you’d like to collect your own or have another professional collect them, please follow guidelines outlined in the Alberta Asbestos Abatement Manual.

  • If asbestos is found does CET provide abatement services?

No, for conflict of interest reasons CET only provides onsite sample collection and analytical services.  If asbestos is detected in your samples and you’re looking for a recommendation afterwards, CET would be more than happy to provide contact info for trusted abatement companies.

  • Can I remove asbestos containing materials myself?

At CET we would strongly recommend you do not.  Asbestos-containing materials can be very dangerous and should only be removed or altered by professionals.

  • Can I tell by looking if asbestos is present in a material?

No, asbestos fibres are microscopic and all suspected asbestos containing materials need to be analyzed in a lab.
